DAIRY:
Dairy animals are available from the cattle
markets arranged at Khedgaon (Dindori), Nashik, Ghoti and Lasalgaon.
Farmers in Nashik District normally purchase crossbred cows
from adjoining Blocks of Ahmednagar District viz. Sangamner,
Kopargaon, Shrirampur etc…
643 Co-operative dairy Societies
are registered in the District. Out of these only 237 are functioning.
Milk collected by these Societies is collected by the Milk Federations.
There are two Milk Federations. Vani Milk Federation has jurisdiction
of Dindori, Kalwan, Surgana and Peth Blocks. This Federation
operates on six milk routes. Average daily milk collection of
this Federation is 5500 litres. Nashik Milk federation has jurisdiction
of remaining Blocks and Operates on 17 milk routes. Average
milk collection of this Federation is 44,500 litres per day.
The Milk collected is processed
at three chilling plants at Nashik, Vani and Chandwad.
Animal Husbandry Department arranges
7 days training at Panjrapol, Panchavati for the fresh entrepreneurs.

POULTRY:
Animal Husbandry Department caters
the needs of poultry development. However the major role in
the industry is played by private companies. There are two private
hatcheries viz. C&M Poultry and Ashok Kumar Hatcheries in
the District. Some poultry farmers buy a day old chicks from
Pune based hatcheries. Feed requirement is met from open market
as well as from MAIDC. The Animal Husbandry department conduct
training in poultry for the farmers.
