Kumbh Mela occurs at Nasik, Haridwar, Allahabad and Ujjain when Jupiter, Sun, Moon and Saturn are in a particular planetary position. The planetary position is as follows -

Astrologically, in around twelve years Jupiter traverses the whole Zodiac. Hence Kumbh Mela, at a particular place is celebrated at the interval of 12 years.

At Nasik it will be held during 2003-2004.Mela. It is celebrated when the Sun and the Moon conjunct in Leo and Jupiter is in Leo. This is the auspicious period of bathing which is known as "Kumbh Snan Yoga".
